The Barber Line

The Barber Line is the name given to the Harrogate Gas Companys narrow gauge railway that carried coal to the gasworks from 1908 to 1956.

8th August 2004 New home for the Peckett.
The Peckett locomotive has been sold by the Bredgar and Wormshill to a private railway somewhere near Tamworth. See http://www.bwlr.co.uk/bugle.php (June 2004 page) for more details and some photographs.
1st May 2004 Barber transported to Alston.
Barber was last week transferred by lorry from Armley to the South Tynedale Railway in Alston, Cumbria. This is the first stage in the long awaited restoration of Barber to full running order. Photos are available, see below.
17th October 2003 Barber to be restored on the South Tynedale Railway.
It has been announced recently that Barber is to be loaned from Leeds Industrial Museum to the South Tynedale Railway for restoration. See this Word document for more details.
